Who is this course for?

The Counterbalance Forklift Novice course is for individuals with no previous experience of driving a forklift truck, teaching you to become a competent forklift truck operator. We offer this course with either OTC certification or AITT* accreditation.

*please note, if you require AITT Certification there will be an additional registration fee of £18 inc VAT per person.

What’s covered?

This a 5-day course with a maximum of 3-delegates. This training course is designed to meet the requirements placed upon employers with regard to their duties under the HEALTH and SAFETY AT WORK ACT 1974; the PROVISION and USE of WORK EQUIPMENT REGULATIONS 1998 (PUWER); the LIFTING OPERATIONS and LIFTING EQUIPMENT REGULATIONS 1998 (LOLER), as applicable and other relevant regulations and codes of practice.

Delegates will be trained in all aspects of forklift truck safety and operation, including the following:

• The law and your responsibilities
• Forklift Truck familiarisation
• Pre-use inspections, care and maintenance
• Controls and instruments
• Safe operating methods and hazards, including weigh assessment
• Operating in confined spaces
• Load handling, stacking/de-stacking

How is the course assessed?

The course is assessed through multiple choice theory assessment, followed by a practical assessment.

Certification

Upon successful completion, delegates will receive either an in-house OTC certificate of competence or an accredited certificate from the AITT.
