How you can improve your CV
Tips and tricks on improving your CV to attract employers

Here at OTC, we understand that the most important thing when it comes to applying for jobs is your CV. Struggling with whether you are formatting your work well or if you are simply including the wrong things? We have compiled a list of tips that may be able to help spruce up your own CV and help you catch the eyes of employers by including exactly what they are looking for.
- Start by using a simple and smart template and do not over do it. You want it to stand out in a professional way.
- It should only be two pages of A4 paper. It is important to keep it relevant and to save small important details for the interview. Employers must look through piles of CV’s and do not have time to read through small details so they may skip over your own if it is too long!
- Adjust your CV for the role you are applying for. Do your research on the role you are applying for as well as what the company does and put down the skills you have that are relevant. This would also help for the interview stage as you would be preparing for when the employer asks what you know about the company.
- Include all qualifications and achievements you have gained as they may be needed for the job role and will tick off boxes that the employer is looking for.
- Do not lie. Many people have lied about what qualifications they have or not and this will give the wrong impression to the employer as they will find out whether you have lied or not.
- Include a small paragraph on your interests and hobbies to give the employer a bit more insight to how you are as a person and what soft skills you may have. For example, socialising with friends, being a keen book reader or if you are into sports/exercising.
