Apprentice Maintenance Engineering
About the company:
We are a manufacturer of products into the household sector and run to food hygiene levels as these products go into major supermarkets and retailers. We make a wide range of products ranging from wet wipes to toilet cleaning products. The company is spread across 2 factories and soon opening a third. The apprentice would go through all 3 sites at first to learn and grasp the business but would be based predominantly at one site with possible requirements to cover others when needed.
This vacancy is for a Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician (MOET)
Hours of work:
Mon-Thurs 7.30am – 18:00pm
The Job Role will entail:
- Completing machine inspections, servicing and repair.
- Implement operational ideas to improve efficiency of machines.
- After consultation with the Maintenance Manager and the Operation team to plan down time to conduct essential machine maintenance reviews, servicing and repair.
- To ensure that the required spares and materials are available for routine machines maintenance tasks.
- Manage the inventory of spares and review this with the maintenance manager to ensure we are not exposed.
- Ensure the workshop and spares storage areas are kept clean and orderly.
- Ensure the Health and Safety relating to machines on site is adhered to. You must only work on machines where you have experience / relevant training. You can only work on machines where engineers codes have been used to override safety system, if you have had suitable training from the machine maker or the Maintenance Manager.
- Ensure that any 3rd party contractors entering the premises are signed in, have completed risk assessments and are authorised to work by the H&S manager.
- Awareness of site security measures and visitor reporting system. Encourage personnel to challenge unidentified or unknown visitors to the site.
- Liaise and attend meetings with other company functions necessary to preform duties and aid business and organisational development.
- Attend training and to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills.
- Ensure that all relevant BRCGS procedures are followed and documentation is completed correctly.
- In the event of the Maintenance Engineer’s absence the Maintenance Manager, other Factory Manager or line Manager will deputise.
